Albert A. Citron, DMD - Northern Virginia Endodontist

Northern Virginia Endodontist - Dr. Albert A. Citron - Vienna EndodonticsHe is currently a Northern Virginia Endodontist but a product of the public school system of Paterson, New Jersey, where he was raised.  In considering family household finances, he attended Rutgers the State University, commuted from home and received a B.A. in Biology in 1964.

With a good deal of family financial sacrifice, he attended and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine , receiving a Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) degree in 1968.  This was a dental school that, to this day, values critical, global thinking as well as excellence clinically.

The sixties was a time of the military draft.  After eight years of deferment from military service, he knew he needed to fulfill his military obligation. In 1968, Dr. Citron enlisted in the United States Army and was commissioned as a Captain.  He spent the first year in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the home of the respected 82nd Airborne and the Green Berets.  The second year he did a tour of duty in Tay Ninh and Cu Chi, Vietnam, as a practicing dentist while attached to the 25th Infantry Division.  His dental corps had the slogan, "PRESERVE THE BITING STRENGTH". 

Upon completion of his military obligation in 1970, Dr. Citron returned to the States, married his wife Dale, a dental hygienist pursuing a Masters degree in Dental Hygiene Education, and spent one year practicing general dentistry in New Jersey while his wife was Supervisor at Middlesex County College Department of Dental Hygiene. 

In 1970, Dr. Citron entered the New Jersey School of Medicine and Dentistry, and received  a Certificate of Specialty in  Endodontics in 1972.   Dr. Citron has maintained a private endodontic practice in Vienna, Virginia since 1973, always putting ethics at the forefront of his treatment philosophy and mission.  As a dedicated and professional Northern Virginia Endodontist, he continues to perform endodontic services, Pro Bono for three social service agencies in the area.  In 2003, he received a special award for outstanding volunteer service to the Northern Virginia Dental Clinic that services the disadvantaged community in our midst.  Dr. Citron still volunteers actively in this program.  He has been honored by the Northern Virginia Magazine, The Consumers' Research Counsel of America and The Washingtonian Magazine as a "Top Endodontist" in the years 2004 - 2009.  He is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists, American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association and Northern Virginia Dental Society.  He is a member and past president of the Virginia Academy of Endodontists and the Edward C. Penick Endodontic Study Club.  He is also an active member of the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity and the Northern Virginia Academy of Clinical Dentistry.

Dr. Citron lives as well as works in Vienna.  He has three children.  Renee is married, living in Los Angeles and is a Patient Service Consultant for Medtronic and is the mother of his only grandchild, Jonah.   Jordan is married, living in Columbus, Ohio, and is attending Ohio Dominican University, pursuing a  licensure in Art Education K-12.  Wesley  is a student at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.  In addition to time spent with family, he enjoys biking, skiing, gardening, walking and anything that connects him to the outdoors and nature.

 


 

Fernando J. Meza, DMD - Northern Virginia Endodontist

Northern Virginia Endodontist - Dr. Fernando J. Meza - Vienna EndodonticsDr. Meza is a Northern Virginia Endodontist and was born in San Salvador, El Salvador in 1975. He moved to the U.S. with his family in 1981 and established residence in Falls Church, Virginia. He received his B.A. in Psychology from Vanderbilt University in 1997, and in 2002, received his D.M.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Meza went on to receive his specialty training from Temple University School of Dentistry, where he obtained his Certificate in Endodontics. After spending all those years away from his family, he decided to return to Northern Virginia where he has been practicing Endodontics for the past four years.

During his residency program, Dr. Meza conducted research using the Biolase Er,Cr:YSGG laser to investigate its effectiveness in disinfecting root canals. His research was part of a collaborative effort at Temple University Department of Endodontics, which led to a publication in the July, 2007 issue of the Journal of the American Dental Association.

In addition, during the years of his dental education, Dr. Meza demonstrated a deep commitment to meaningful community outreach projects. He performed volunteer oral screenings for migrant workers, volunteered in the Connecticut State Special Olympics, and, most impressively, helped to organize and participated in a Peru Dental Mission on the Amazon River Basin. Dr. Meza has also volunteered for the Northern Virginia Dental Clinic since 2005. He will continue to look for and participate in similar professional opportunities that address the needs of the underserved, often invisible, patient population in the Greater Washington area.

An excellent multi-tasker, Dr. Meza remains active in research and academics as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland Department of Endodontics where he enjoys teaching dental students and residents. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Northern Virginia Dental Society, and American Association of Endodontists. He is a professionally trained Northern Virginia Endodontist and is currently undergoing the process of Board Certification in Endodontics.

Dr. Meza is married to his wife, Beatriz, and together they enjoy spending time with their children,  Natalie and Fernando, Jr.

 


 

Dr. H. Vivian Lee - Northern Virginia Endodontist

Dr. H. Vivian Lee is a long-time Virginia resident and a University of Virginia alumna. She earned her dental degree at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2001, and completed a one year Advanced Education internship in General Dentistry at the University of Florida School of Dentistry in Jacksonville, Florida.

After two years of practicing general dentistry in the Northern Virginia area, Dr. Lee returned to school and completed a two-year Endodontic residency at New York University in 2006. Dr. Lee has been practicing Endodontics in Northern Virginia since 2006.  Committed to community outreach, she has exhibited a strong sense of professional accountability and responsibility both at home and abroad.  She volunteered with Operation Smile in their dental missions to Vietnam.  In addition, in an effort to serve underrepresented pockets within New York City, she volunteered at various hospital clinics. 

She is an active member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Northern Virginia Dental Society and the American Association of Endodontists.

Dr. Lee currently resides in DC. Her interests include travel, scuba, running, and reading.
